Safe Whittling for Kids

Jumping Spider rarely asks for help, permission, or directions–he just goes and does things. I looked over the other evening to find him whittling a piece of wood–with a vegetable peeler. The wood was fairly soft, so it worked pretty well. I don’t think he’s old enough to trust with a pocket knife, but a vegetable peeler is probably safe. He’s had plenty of practice peeling potatoes for me!

I have to say, I love watching the creative things my kids come up with.
